Our mission at Volunteers of America North Louisiana is to provide opportunity, promote dignity, and inspired change in all who find their way to us.

Our clients are obviously the heart of what we do every day. In the 1930s, our agency began as a shelter located at 740 Hope Street serving women and children in need. Today, we continue to serve the most vulnerable members of our community including families struggling to make ends meet, people with physical and intellectual disabilities, veterans, older adults, and children struggling at school. As a faith-based organization, we hope to reach and uplift all people.

Last year, we served more than 8,600 individuals across north and central Louisiana with our holistic approach of meeting physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Many individuals are able to graduate our programs (veterans and high school seniors) and live independently, but others like those in our residential facilities and adult day programs will need years of care and support.

Changing Lives

Through our services, we are able to give HOPE to many in need, and change lives every day. Last year:

99% of children in the LightHouse stayed in school.
95% of clients receiving mental health services stayed out of the hospital.
135 seniors and people with disabilities were able to live at home with help from the Adult Day Health Center and our in-home care.
331 people found affordable housing.
120 Veterans found permanent housing.
